Thank you for your interest in joining us! This year's festival is based around the idea of (Imperfect)ive Experiments. Against the Odds celebrates artists who investigate how to overcome obstacles. This year we were inspired by Monkeyhouse dancers who struggle with uncommon health issues. We wanted to show how people can make physical poetry out of imperfect bodies. Accepted pieces will be part of at least one night of the Against the Odds Festival and choreographers/performers will be asked to participate in post-show discussions and possibly other panel talks throughout the festival. Choreographers/companies will also be included in pre-show promotions including interviews, mailings, social networking, etc. A stipend will be included for selected pieces.

Each piece will be given a 30 minute tech time on the day of the performance so pieces with lower tech needs are preferable. Performances will be presented at Springstep in Medford, MA throughout October and November 2011.

Artists are responsible for obtaining permission to use any multimedia (including music, text, video etc.).

We are looking for pieces that are:

Completed
No longer than fifteen minutes
Able to fit within the topic of the festival
Adaptable to a non-traditional theatre space/lightning

Performance Applicants must:

Fill out the form below
Submit a resume of the choreographer/company
Submit a video of the proposed work
Include a $20 application fee.
